Preschool Creative Movement is a 45 minute class for children ages 3, 4 and 5 (who must be potty trained!). Ballet class is fun and inspiring in our Creative Movement Program designed specifically for preschoolers. Our preschool classes introduce ballet through creative expression and focus on developing coordination, listening skills and motor skills. Props such as tutus, butterfly wings, princess wands, flowers, ribbons and stuffed animals help engage the students' attention and imagination. Preschool dancers are invited to participate in KPBAs annual Nutcracker and Spring Showcase and will receive handouts with details. Come join us for a unique and exciting introduction to the world of dance!

Pre-ballet is a one hour class for kindergarten and 1st grade students and expands on students' ballet vocabulary introduced in our Pre-School Division. This class lays the foundation for the study of classical ballet while continuing to encourage creative expression. Classes develop flexibility, grace, poise, coordination, strength, muscle tone, confidence, joy of movement and auditory/visual memory. Barre work is introduced, emphasizing the correct body alignment necessary for the study of classical ballet technique. Classical music from famous ballets and operas is also introduced to inspire music appreciation and explore the close relationship between music and dance. Ballet etiquette is introduced. Pre-ballet dancers are invited to participate in KPBAs annual Nutcracker and Spring Showcase and will receive handouts with details. This class is an excellent, yet fun introduction to the foundational steps, positions and movements of classical ballet technique.

Ballet I is graded by age (1st & 2nd grade and older) and previous experience. This class consists of one hour of ballet instruction. Ballet I is an excellent, yet fun class that emphasizes feet and arm positions, French ballet terminology, introductory barre work, ballet stretching, musicality, learning choreography, ballet etiquette and the development of classical ballet technique. Ballet I dancers are invited to participate in KPBAs annual Nutcracker and Spring Showcase and will receive handouts with details.

Ballet II is graded by age (2nd & 3rd grade and older) and previous experience. This class consists of one hour of ballet instruction and expands on the ballet technique learned in Ballet I. Ballet II emphasizes feet, arm and body positions, correct body placement, French ballet terminology, barre work, ballet stretching, musicality, memorizing ballet combinations and choreography, ballet etiquette and the advancement of classical ballet technique. Ballet II dancers are invited to participate in KPBAs annual Nutcracker and Spring Showcase and will receive handouts with details.

Ballet III is graded by age (3rd, 4th & 5th grade) and previous experience. This class consists of one hour of ballet instruction and builds on the ballet technique learned in Ballet II. This class emphasizes proper usage of legs and feet, arm and body positions, correct body placement, French ballet terminology, barre work, ballet stretching, musicality, memorizing ballet combinations and choreography and the advancement of classical ballet technique. Ballet III dancers are invited to participate in KPBAs annual Nutcracker and Spring Showcase and will receive handouts with details.

Ballet IV is graded by age and previous experience. This class consists of one hour of ballet instruction and is a continuation and refinement of the ballet technique learned in Ballet III. Ballet IV dancers are encouraged to take two classes per week. Ballet IV dancers are invited to participate in KPBAs annual Nutcracker and Spring Showcase and will receive handouts with details.

Ballet V is graded by age and previous experience. Ballet V is a one hour class that refines and expands on the ballet technique learned in Ballet IV and also emphasizes proper pointe technique. Ballet V dancers receive pointe preparation exercises and are encouraged to take two classes per week. Ballet V dancers are invited to participate in KPBA's annual Nutcracker and Spring Showcase and will receive handouts with details.

Ballet V-P (Point Preparation) Two classes per week are REQUIRED for Ballet VP dancers because they are in pre-pointe training.  Please read our Online Going En-Pointe Handout for details or contact Kristina if you have any questions.  Ballet VP dancers are invited to participate in KPBA's annual Nutcracker and Spring Showcase and will receive handouts with details.

Ballet VI is graded by age and previous experience. Students must be en pointe and are required to take at least two ballet classes per week to be eligible for Ballet VI. Ballet VI consists of a high leveled technique class and places emphasis on the technique required for girls to move quickly and effortlessly en pointe. Ballet VI students are invited to audition for a spot as an Apprentice or Corps de Ballet Dancer in Delaware Valley Ballet Theater and will receive a handout with details.

Ballet VII is graded by age and previous experience. Students must have completed at least two years of pointe training and take at least two ballet classes per week to be eligible for Ballet VII. Ballet VII places particular emphasis on high level technique and pointe classes and exposes dancers to a wide variety of disciplines (e.g., Variations, Pas de Deux, Character Dancing, Modern Technique, Pilates) that are critical to the development of a complete dancer. Ballet VII students are invited to audition for a spot as a Demi-Soloist, or Soloist in Delaware Valley Ballet Theater and will receive a handout with details.

KPBA’s Pre-Professional Training Progam is graded by age, previous experience, work-ethic, attitude and the aspirations of each individual student. Students must be in high school and take at least four classes per week to be eligible. KPBAs Pre-Professional Training Program is designed to meet the needs of young students with outstanding potential who seek the highest standard of classical ballet education. As they prepare for a professional career, these students participate in an extensive schedule of classes, rehearsals and performances. Performance is an essential part of becoming a professional dancer. Pre-Professional students are invited to audition to be First Soloists or Principal Dancers in Delaware Valley Ballet Theater and will receive a handout with details. KPBA provides Pre-Professional students with the opportunity to acquire real stage experience, cultivate performance skills and gain theater knowledge by entering Delaware Valley Ballet Theater as leading dancers. This prepares them with the experience and exposure to make the next step of joining University Dance Programs or Professional Ballet Companies upon high-school graduation.

Modern Technique is for Ballet VI, Ballet VII and Pre-Professional level dancers and augments our formal ballet curriculum. Classes focus on diverse techniques, such as Graham, Cunningham or Horton, to prepare advanced dancers for the Modern repertoire of University Dance Programs or Professional Ballet Companies.
